The Starving Artist Deal

Many people don't realize what it takes to be an original and as-yet undiscovered artist these days. Let's face facts, folks: Most people today see the big names in showbiz and don't understand how rare it is to become an overnight success.

I do understand this. All too well, in fact.

Happily, there are certain sites out there that can help make the journey to success a bit easier, and more realistic. Sites that offer crowdfunding, for instance, are excellent methods of taking your vision to the masses while helping to ease the financial burden of breaking into the big time. Whether it's music, print, performance art, or any other medium of your choice, chances are there is an audience just for you.

Then there are sites that allow people to continually fund your work. The more you produce, the more fans and supporters you are likely to receive, and this too helps on the way to stardom.

The unfortunate side to these tremendous tools? Not everyone is as multi-talented as might be required to launch a successful campaign. There have been those exceptional cases that were funded after shooting a quick video on their iPhone, but most campaigns wither away due to a lack of interest.

The truth is that lack of interest is rarely connected to the actual focus of the campaign. Most people are simply looking to be wowed when they set out to discover something new. That means that there needs to be an excellent video presentation, informational images, and a great write-up.
